Overview

The Haunted Forest was added in 2018's Notoriety Halloween update. Players are tasked to kill 50 ghosts (total of 100 enemies) to collect Witches Brew from a cauldron that is guarded by The Masked Officer.

Before Halloween 2019, however, players were tasked to defend the cauldron from enemies instead.

Jade's Plan

"The forest is dark and spooky tonight, crew. How about we make a little brew, then make it like ghosts and disappear into the night? You should watch yourselves though, lots of angry spirits roam these woods tonight..."

Walkthrough

Players spawn by the van at the start of the forest. They must go deeper into the forest until they come across a cauldron containing Witches Brew, at which point they 'guard' the brew while also killing a total of 50 enemies and their ghost. When the brew is ready, they must bag and secure it and then escape.

1. Navigate through the forest and walk across the bridge, then go around the hill to find the brew.
2. Get to the cauldron, kill the masked officer and get 50 souls, which is 100 total kills (both the enemy and their ghosts).
   • Each enemy must be killed twice, though they are still worth one kill. Each ring represents 20% of the cauldron's progress or 10 kills. The objective does not change when the cauldron is done, so watch for when the cauldron has all 5 rings.
3. Bag the brew and run for the van. Focus on getting to the van and not fighting officers.
4. Throw the brew into the van and escape.

Soul Collector Kill 666 ghosts in one session of Haunted Forest

Ego Vidi Timui Find the secret loot that only comes around during Halloween. Unlocks the 'Formidulosus' mask During the Month of October, a Dominus Formidulosus appears under a tree to the right of the bridge on the side near spawn. Interacting with it will grant you an Exclusive mask and this badge.

Tips

Skills & Equipment

• On lower difficulties, you can use sentry guns to easily finish the heist. Sentry Gun assisting skills make this easier for players to complete.
• High-powered weaponry (such as the RPK, Minigun, and shotguns) is recommended against ghost-turned police, as they have 6x their health.
  • Note that the extra damage dealt with their living state will be mitigated when they become ghosts, meaning you will need to kill the enemy twice.

Environment

• Rush to the brew as fast as possible, as the assault will begin immediately after the narrator (not to be confused with Jade) says that the full moon has revealed itself.
• Once you bag the brew, try not to fight enemies and focus on running to the van instead.

Enemies

• Be mindful of Specters as they could down players out right beside the van or while they run to the van to escape.

Special

• In getting the 'Soul Collector' badge, it is recommended that you bring friends or use the AI since progress to the badge is shared. Technically the AI won't get the badge, so it's recommended to just get player teammates.
  • The kill counter is not an accurate representation of kills, as killing both the enemy and its ghost form is counted as two seperate kills. (You can just wait until the counter says you have 1332 kills.)
• Getting the "Ego Vidi Timui" badge takes a solid 1 minute. So be prepared for cops ambushing you while collecting it.
  • Having a teammate with you to provide cover fire could be viable, especially with a full team. While you and one teammate get the badge, your other teammates kill enemies for the brew.

Bugs

• AI heisters sometimes don't follow players to the cauldron.
  • However, this may be the case and if playing solo, an AI may get downed and players will need to revive them or if the players are downed, they may not be able to get to them in time to revive them because they don't follow players to the back.

Trivia

• This is the second-ever map to be Halloween-themed.
• This marks the only appearance of the the Masked Officer and Ghost police.
  • Ghost police can also appear in different heists as long as the "The Haunting" mutator is enabled.
• The 'Soul Collector' badge was formerly named 'That Number'.
  • This is probably to avoid Roblox moderation from deleting the badge and possibly banning Brick_man for having '666' as the badge's name.
• This is the only mission that has the officers turn into their ghost form after death. These ghosts have 6x as much health, and the same properties as their original counterparts (excluding transparency), which effectively means that all enemies have 6x health and 2 lives.
• This is the only mission that has the Witches Brew loot.
• This mission has recorded voice lines, which are made specifically for it.
• The Haunted Forest, The Ozela Heist and Jewelry Shop are the only heists that only require one loot item to complete the heist.
• This heist is 1 of the 5 maps to not contain any cameras.
  • The other heists are Authority, Cook Off, Gift Factory and Transport.
• Haunted Forest, Authority, R&B Bank, Terminal and Trick Or Treat are the only heists that are not based on Payday 2. They are also called "Originals" in the heist selection menu.
